Edells
A fabulous Arts and Crafts house, once the home of a prosperous brewer at the turn of the last century. Built at a time when craftsmen were extraordinarily talented and deeply proud of their work, the quality of construction and attention to detail remain unmistakable throughout. We like to think that same spirit and craftsmanship are being carried forward in the kitchen cabinetry.
The original kitchen was fairly small and no longer suited the clients’ requirements. Opening up two rooms into one transformed the space, creating a generous, light-filled environment that works equally well for cooking, eating and socialising, very much in keeping with how we all like to live today.
A special cabinet is dedicated to drinks and all the accoutrements. With wine and beer fridges below, and glasses and spirits in the cupboard above.
The Aga is wonderfully cosy in the winter months, just the thing when the weather turns chilly. Come summer, it’s switched off and the hob and eye-level ovens step in instead. And with that handy perching spot on the island, the cook always has company.
Style Board: The main run of cabinetry is painted in Little Greene’s Silt, whilst the island is finished in Farrow & Ball’s Eating Room Red. Worktops are Olympos quartz and handles are finished in aged brass
