Drovers Barn

A stunning barn conversion retaining some beautiful original beam work and unusual vernacular features, all set within the heart of the wild Welsh countryside.

It was an honour to work alongside this amazing and historic piece of architecture. The kitchen area was carefully and thoughtfully designed so as not to interrupt or fight against its surroundings and our simple Shaker cabinetry was the perfect choice for this project. The customers decision not to have any wall cabinets was well considered, as this would have lessened the impact of the beams and also overpowered the beautiful arrow slit windows. It’s a fine art getting the right balance between the architecture of the building and our cabinetry, but we feel this one worked out just perfectly.

Style board: The Island is painted in Little Greene’s (aptly named) Heat.  The 40mm worktops are wide planked solid oak with an oiled finish. The surrounding cabinets are painted in Little Greene’s soft Clay colour with the worktops in a delicate marbled Quartz called Cortina
